As part of a larger strategic initiative, the company faced three challenges:
- Transition to Avigilon for access control
- Improve and optimize existing security operations, including internally developed software
- Improve responsiveness for technical upgrades

Octeum was tasked with multiple objectives to help the Fortune 500 company meet its transition goals:
- Upgrade the existing system to prepare for migration
- Migrate data from the existing system to the new platform, including facility information, data from hardware and sensors, and user data
- Consolidate and clean up data
- Consult to help improve operations and reduce expenses
- Roll out the new platform to 92 physical locations with ~2,500 readers, providing quality assurance and training
- Improve the access request process, previously a time-consuming effort that involved manual steps, emails, appointment coordination and screen sharing

Hardware Migration—Data Transfer
Octeum leveraged its proprietary hardware migration tool to integrate the legacy and Avigilon platforms for efficient and accurate data transfer. It’s 10x faster than typical migration services and reduces manual errors, which can take hours per physical site.
Automated Access Requests
Octeum developed a modern, custom tool that improved the user experience by reducing tasks and the need for multiple manual steps. This automation minimized human touchpoints, supporting the company’s goal of optimizing the request process.
System Rollout
The migration tool worked so well that we were able to shift the original rollout plan, eliminating the need for technicians to verify data transfer on site. When the pandemic hit during rollout, this meant fewer safety risks for the company’s employees and the project team.
