We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Security Systems Engineer to design, implement, and manage advanced security systems for our organization and clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of physical security and safety technologies, with experience in integrating security platforms to ensure a safe and secure environment. This role will involve working with various security technologies including surveillance cameras, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and integrated solutions. System platforms included, but are not limited to: Genetec, Software House, Zenitel, LenelS2, Acre security and Motorola.
The ideal candidate is expected to have a diverse skill set, as the role combines both technical and soft skills to design, implement, and maintain complex systems.
Responsibilities
System Design & Implementation
- Design, configure, and implement electronic security systems including video surveillance (CCTV), access control, intrusion detection, and alarm systems.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs and design tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
- Oversee the installation of security hardware, software, and networks, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
System Integration & Troubleshooting
- Integrate different security technologies and platforms to create a cohesive and fully functional security ecosystem.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to security systems hardware and software.
- Perform root cause analysis to ensure issues are fixed effectively and prevent future problems.
Configuration & Testing
- Configure security systems, including cameras, sensors, access control devices, and security management software.
- Conduct thorough testing of security systems to ensure optimal functionality, performance, and security.
Maintenance & Monitoring
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support for installed systems to ensure they remain secure and functional.
- Implement proactive monitoring of security systems to detect vulnerabilities or failures and resolve them promptly.
- Perform routine system updates, patches, and security audits.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) as a Security Systems Engineer or in a similar role, ideally in the physical security systems domain (CCTV, access control, alarm systems).
- Experience working with enterprise-level security solutions, including but not limited to Genetec, Software House, Honeywell, LenelS2, etc.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in physical security system integration (e.g., Genetec, Honeywell, LenelS2, Bosch).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and how they apply to IoT devices and networked security systems.
- Prior experience in client-facing roles, managing customer expectations and delivering tailored security solutions.
Certifications (Preferred but not Required)
- Certifications related to specific systems, such as Genetec Certified Technician or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with IP-based security systems, network cameras, and digital video recorders (DVRs).
- Proficiency in system configuration tools and platforms for security systems.
Work Environment
- This position will involve both office and fieldwork, including site visits to assess, install, and maintain security systems.
- Flexible work schedule may be required based on project deadlines and customer needs.
