Automating Key Management by Integrating Avigilon ACM with Traka
Overview
A newly opened luxury hotel needed a secure and efficient way to manage employee access to physical keys without adding administrative overhead. While Avigilon Access Control Manager (ACM) served as the system of record for employee identities and credentials, the hotel’s new Traka key management system required administrators to manually recreate users, credentials, and permissions.
The hotel partnered with Octeum to eliminate duplicate administration by creating an automated integration between Avigilon ACM and Traka. Using Octeum’s Transit-IO integration platform, the two systems now remain synchronized automatically, reducing manual effort while improving security and operational efficiency.
The Challenge
Managing employee identities across multiple security platforms created unnecessary complexity for the hotel’s security team.
Every time an employee required access to a key cabinet, administrators had to manually enter identity information, assign credentials, and configure permissions inside Traka—even though the same information already existed in Avigilon ACM.
This manual process introduced several operational challenges:

Octeum’s Approach
Octeum worked closely with the project team to understand the hotel’s operational workflows and the data required by both platforms. Because no existing connector was available, Octeum rapidly developed a new Transit-IO connector capable of securely synchronizing identity, credential, and role information between Avigilon ACM and Traka.
The integration continuously transfers user information from Avigilon ACM into Traka, eliminating duplicate administration while ensuring both systems remain aligned.
Beyond connecting the two platforms, Octeum expanded the capabilities of Transit-IO by developing a new Traka integration that can support future customer deployments. The solution was designed, tested, and delivered within the project’s implementation timeline, allowing the hotel to deploy its key management system without delaying opening activities.
The Solution
Octeum implemented an automated synchronization solution that connects Avigilon ACM directly with Traka through Transit-IO.
Whenever users are created or updated in Avigilon ACM, their identity, credentials, and assigned roles are automatically synchronized to Traka. Employees can then use their existing Avigilon access card to authenticate at Traka key cabinets and retrieve only the keys they are authorized to access.
By eliminating duplicate data entry and centralizing access administration, the hotel now manages physical access and key management through a single authoritative system.
